Cottelston Advisors in conjunction with PULSE presents:

Antechamber

by David Abir

Gallery

Dates: March 4 - 7, 2010
Hours: 12pm - 8pm (VIP reception: March 4, 9am - 12pm)
Location: PULSE New York, 330 West Street @ West Houston, New York, NY

David Abir sculpts light and sound creating environments that oscillate between the physical and the spiritual. Encountering one of his sculptures is cathartic - there is no end or beginning, just now.

Antechamber, presented by Cottelston Advisors and on view at PULSE New York from March 4 through 7, 2010, will consist of two symmetric, concave wall sculptures placed in tandem. Both ‘Intersect No. 2’ and ‘Relief: Level Three’ blend palettes of rotating color with compositions of collaged classical music. The combined elements place the viewer in the midst of a suspension of light, sound and space. Also on view at PULSE will be The Northeast Column, the first in a quartet of free standing sculptures that act as sonic and visual signposts.

David Abir is an Iranian-American sculptor. Tekrar Level Four (2009), a large-scale, self-contained walk-in sculpture, was presented at PULSE Miami 2009. Earlier iterations of Tekrar were commissioned in 2005 for a group show in San Sebastian, curated by Octavia Zaya and in 2007 for the Aldridge Museum of Contemporary Art. In addition to his own work, David has also produced music and sound installations in collaboration with several artists, including Doug Aitken, Alfredo Jaar, Shirin Neshat, and Shahzia Sikandir. He lives and works in New York.

PULSE Contemporary Art Fair is the leading US art fair dedicated solely to contemporary art. Held annually in New York and Miami, PULSE bridges the gap between main and alternative fairs and provides participating galleries with a platform to present new works to a strong and growing audience of collectors, art professionals, and art lovers.
